About
MV Plover
Built
in 1944 at Bryants Marina in Seattle, Washington, the
MV
Plover was used as a foot passenger ferry for the Alaskan
Packers Association's cannery on Semiahmoo Spit, now
home to Semiahmoo Resort. This nostalgic vessel ferried
the cannery workers and townfolk
back
and forth
across the mouth of Drayton Harbor until 1964.
Today,
the
Motor Vessel Plover has been restored to its original
look and is again plying her original route, no longer
carrying cannery workers, but tourists, visitors and
townfolk.

Plover's stats are as follows:

1¼" x 4" clear vertical grain fir and yellow cedar planking
laid over 1½" x 2½" bent white oak frames 10" on center.

The
MV Plover was listed in the National Register of Historic
Places on June 4, 1997. The restoration of the Plover was
impart taken up by Richard Sturgill who now heads the Drayton

The
Plover operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day
from
the Blaine Visitor's Dock at the Blaine Marina in Blaine
Washington. To ride the Plover there are suggested donations
of:
Adults: $5
Children: $3
Children under 12: Free.
